Teledex’s Opal DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) cordless phones utilizes the 1.9 GHz frequency provide secure short range communication within individual guestrooms.
These newer phones offer several new features of interest to hoteliers and hotel operating companies.
Initially popular in Europe, DECT technology is the emerging standard for cordless phone technology in the United States. In 2005, the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) relaxed frequency spectrum licensing requirements and costs associated with the use of DECT products in the U.S., clearing the way for adoption of the technology and frequency band in the U.S.
Cordless telephones operating in the 1.9 GHz band are suitable for use in the United States and select non-European countries.
