What is a Headset? |
| What is a Headset? |
| The telephone headset performs the functions of a telephone handset, but it is worn on the head or ear, rather than held to the ear. Like a handset, it consists of a receiver (speaker) that lets you hear, and a transmitter (microphone) that converts your voice into electric impulses. In a headset, these two components are usually "worn" by means of a headband or an ear hook. |

|
·

or take notes. |

|

|
|
| Who Benefits from Using a Headset? |
| Everyone can benefit from using a
headset. Today, many people view headsets as standard office
equipment, and depend on them - regardless of how much time they
spend in the phone. Of course, the more telephone-dependent you
and your company are, the more valuable headset will be to you. |
| The following is a list of the kind of businesses and occupations that traditionally depend on headsets: |
| ·
Tele-marketers · Customer Service/Help Desk · Receptionists · Dispatchers · Travel Agents · Computer Use · Sales Department · Reservation Agents · Bank & Financial Services · Health Care & Emergency Services · Emergency Roadside Services · Home/Office · Anyone who spends time on the telephone |
|
|
| How to choose your Headset? |
| You must determine what style of headset you want. The choices are as follows: |
| ·
Monaural: Ear cushion covers one ear and a Headband over the head · Binaural: Ear cushion covers two ears and a Headband over the head · Ear Piece: Earhook, Ear loop (hooks over the ear), or Ear Bud (hooks over the ear and a bud rests on the outer part of the ear canal) · Modular: Combination of headband and Earhook style · Custom: Personalized and molded to fit your ear |
|
You must consider the level of noise canceling (NC), if any' which you may need. Noise canceling microphones reduce the level of surround/background noise which may exist in typical work environments and eliminates distracting sounds for the listener. There are various degrees of noise canceling microphones and the better the NC, the more expensive the headset. Only you know where you will be using your headset and how the circumstance may (or may not) be. Now, you are ready to select your headset. Go to Headsets (click on it) and choose the style and manufacturer you want. Once selection is made verify compatibility. The final step now is connecting your headset to your telephone. Headsets connect to telephones in one of three ways: |
|
·
By using a multipurpose amplifier which by adjusting the
settings will enable compatibility for either electric or modular
carbon applications To determine which application suits you telephone, check our headset ordering pages.
